01. Festival Information

Weekend Festival takes place Friday, August 17 - Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Hietaniemenranta in Helsinki, Finland. The exact open hours will be announced closer to the festival.

15 years is the minimum age recommended, however the age limit for Priority and VIP areas are 18 years. There will be plenty of zones for 18 year olds only. Remember to bring your photo ID with you.

All ticket categories will be exchanged to wristbands so entering and exiting the festival is possible any time you want to.

Guests and their belongings are subject to search upon entry or re-entry. You can help keep the lines moving quickly by leaving large bags at home. 

The following items are ALLOWED* at Weekend Festival:


  • Bags – 18 L sized bags or smaller Strollers
  • Binoculars
  • Blankets, Sheets, Towels
  • Cameras (basic point and shoot consumer-grade cameras) WITHOUT detachable lenses and other accessories (monopods, selfie sticks, tripods, GoPro mounts longer than 30 centimeters, and other attachments are not allowed)
  • GoPro cameras without accessories

The following items are PROHIBITED* at Weekend Festival:

  • Aerosol containers (including sunscreen and personal beauty products)
  • Any and all professional audio recording equipment 
  • Any and all professional video equipment – no video recording will be allowed
  • Professional cameras (any camera with the option to detach a lense)
  • Any and all camera accessories, such as selfie sticks, tripods, monopods, go pro mounts longer than 30cm and attachments, detachable lenses, or other commercial equipment
  • Drones or any other remote flying device
  • Coolers of any kind (exceptions may be made for medical use)
  • Bags larger than 18 L 
  • Framed backpacks
  • Hammocks
  • Glass Containers
  • Firearms, explosives, and weapons of any kind (including pocket knives, pepper spray, fireworks, etc)
  • Illegal and Illicit substances of any kind
  • Outside food or beverage (including alcohol) of any kind
  • Umbrellas
  • Professional-grade radios or walkie-talkies
  • Pets 
  • Skateboards, scooters, bicycles, wagons, carts (including red wagons) or any personal motorized vehicles
  • Tents, canopies, or shade structures of any kind
  • Unauthorized/unlicensed vendors are not allowed. No unauthorized solicitation and materials including handbills, flyers, stickers, beach balls, giveaways, samples, etc.
  • Bicycle chains and other such chains will not be allowed
  • Bicycles inside the festival grounds (free parking is available near festival entrance)
  • No Chairs of any kind
  • No Inflatable furniture. Rafts, chairs, etc.

ALLOWED: You are allowed to take photos and videos in all public areas but be polite and respect the general rules for personal privacy and use common sense.


NOT ALLOWED: You are allowed to take photos & videos with cellphone and cameras (basic point and shoot consumer-grade cameras) without detachable lenses and other accessories (monopods, selfie sticks, tripods, GoPro mounts longer than 30 centimeters, and other attachments are not allowed)

Jacket holding and a limited amount of personal lockers will be available so you can free up your hands and avoid losing any personal items during the fest. Check back closer to the festival for more information.

The recruiting of volunteer workers has started. Apply here!

Please be aware that we may require some Finnish skills. The application form is in Finnish as well.

We will recruit volunteer workers for a variety of job assignments. As a volunteer you can earn a one-day festival ticket for each shift as a thank you for your help, as well as a certificate of employment for your job.

We offer five different volunteer tasks: cleaning, construction, disassembly, catering and restaurant assistance. You must choose one of these tasks for your application. If any of these jobs are not on the page, there are no more vacancies for the position.

If you want to take more than one shift, you will need to apply for these shifts separately. At most, you can take two shifts. Please note that many people apply for the same tasks.

The recommended age for volunteering is 15 years.

The festival stage schedule will be available closer to the festival. The day schedules will appear on our website during sprint 2018.

We will deliver all the lost & found items to Suomen löytötavarapalvelu where you can make inquiries of lost items after the festival:

If you find lost items during the festival please bring them to the INFO stand marked on the festival map. 

If you notice that you have lost something it during the festival you can ask after your items at the festival INFO stand.

Physically challenged (i.e wheelchair) customers may buy regular festival tickets for the festival and they are allowed to bring one assistant with them for free. If you have physical disabilities and are unsure wether or not you will be able to have access at the festival area, you can contact us by email: info (at) 


  • All customers are subject to a full and complete search prior to entry, for the safety of everyone entering the festival. By purchasing a ticket, you agree to submit to a full body pat-down before entry. All bags will be searched before entry. To speed up entry, leave your bags at home.

  • Please review the Allowed & Prohibited items list for a stress-free entry process.

  • If you need advice anytime during the festival, do not hesitate to ask for assistance from Festival Staff and security officers. 
  • Weekend Festival wants to make sure that all the customers can enjoy the festival and feel safe at all times. Our professional security officers can be identified with the Yellow or Orange vests. 

  • Weekend Festival has a medical team in case of emergencies. Please view the festival map to locate the medical tent or ask instructions the security officers to help you incase you or someone else is injured or not feeling well. 

  • Most importantly, take care of you and your friends and be nice to other festival customers. Peace and love.

There will be water points where you can fill your water bottles at the festival. These will be marked on the festival map closer to the festival.

All payments will be made with your wristband. You can charge your wristband via your MY WKND account before the festival or at the festival area at ’top up’ points. We recommend that you charge your wristband already before arriving to the festival.

During the festival due to possible delays one can not add money to the wristband via ones MyWKND -account, only on site via the top up -points for a 1€ service fee.

The Cashless system enables smooth entrance and logistics throughout the festival. It also gives you a possibility to upgrade your ticket, purchase tickets for after-parties or festival transport and collects all the features and purchases in your wristband. You can also transfer money to your wristband from your bank account and you can use this money for food, drinks and other festival services within the festival area.

All payments will be made with your wristband at this years festival.

Weekend Festival offers it's customers Jousto payment plan service that gives you a possibility to purchase your ticket now and pay the bill within 90 days of the purchase without extra costs. You can find more infomaration about Jousto payment plan in section 08. Jousto payment plan. 

You can now register your MY WKND account here. With your account you can buy upgrades and extra services such as after party tickets to your wristband or charge money to your  wristband that you can use for all services at the festival area.

All ticket categories will be exchanged to wristbands. This will enable a smooth entrance and better services to our customers.

There will be a special VIP area at the festival available for the VIP customers only. If you purchase a VIP ticket your wristband will give you access to the special VIP facilities. There will be special VIP lane at the gate ensuring the smoothest possible entry to the festival area.

VIP -tickets include:

  • Fast entry lane at the festival gate only for the VIP-customers
  • Free jacket holding
  • Access to WKND VIP structure
  • Access to VIP bar services 
  • Access to VIP only food sales  
  • Access to VIP only toilet facilities 
  • Free exit and re-entry from the VIP and festival area during the festival
  • Access to all afterparties (Unless the venue capacity limit is full). 

PRIORITY -tickets include: 

  • Fast entry lane at the festival gate only for priority customers
  • Access to priority bar 
  • Access to priority area 
  • Free exit and re-entry from the priority and festival area during the festival

Weekend Festival strives to mitigate its impact on the environment. We take a considerable amount of pride in the efforts of our fans in maintaining the integrity of the festival area over the course of the weekend. Partner with us to reduce the festival’s impact on the environment.

Tips for sustainability:

  • Sort your waste to the recycling containers. Do not litter!

  • Bring a water bottle. Bottles can be filled at the many water stations on site

  • Make the most of the can deposits. Do not throw cans or bottles in the trash

  • There are hundreds of toilets on site - please use them!
